This is my life...
On leaving Brighton College of Art he came to London and worked for two major record companies first as an assistant then as art director. On leaving he set up a studio with 4 other ilustrator/designers in Covent Garden working for record companies, publishers, design groups and advertising agencies. Richard then spent some time living and working in New York.
On his return continued work as a freelance designer/illustrator working in the same areas with the addition of the fashion business. This included designing and directing fashion shows. During this time he drew the now iconic logo for Jones menswear, considered to be one of the most influential logos of the 1980’s, and the original drawings for the Prudential logo (see Rewind forty years of design and advertising). As well as major work for other companies, he spent a period of time working on Cosmopolitan magazine as in-house artist/designer.
